Client Profile
Gov Facility Services Limited (GFSL) is a not for profit, Ministry of Justice owned company. Set up in 2018, its role is to provide facilities management (FM) services to prisons in the south of England.

The Challenge
Catering is a critical service within each prison and equipment needs to be operational with minimal downtime. Equipment is a mixture of age and brand so it’s important to have competent and skilled engineers maintaining this equipment who can respond quickly.

The Solution
SCEC was appointed as an approved Catering provider by GFSL in 2019 and assigned a portfolio of sites within the East of England region. An initial assessment and verification of each site’s catering assets was undertaken by SCEC engineers, followed by a structured plan of maintenance visits, immediate resolution of any equipment that was failing and reporting mechanisms defined.

The Results
Improved uptime on catering equipment across the sites being managed by SCEC. Collaborative relationship developed with both GFSL and HMPPS. Enhanced and improved reputation due to having a trusted and reliable service delivery. Partnership approach adopted where SCEC works with GFSL stakeholders to improve efficiency within the catering service category.
